Druid’s Altar Folk Horror Wedding ~ Mel and Joe

Mel and Joe celebrated their North Yorkshire wedding in their own, unique way and had us along to capture it. The ceremony might have been a simple registry office but it was filled with love and family ~ and that wasn’t really their main wedding day focus. Mel and Joe had planned for a folk horror-vibe photoshoot in the woods at Druid’s Altar. This is the perfect example of having your wedding day your own way!

We arrived at the Keighley register office on a misty morning ~ we could already sense the magic in the air. The ceremony was really intimate and surrounded by family love. We got to do a confetti moment ~ we all know how much we love a good confetti throw! After the ceremony, we headed out into the misty woodland with Mel and Joe leading the way. They wore masks inspired by the green man and corn dolls, which added an otherworldly element to the shoot. As we wandered through the trees, the atmosphere was ethereal and wild ~ as if we had stepped right into the middle of a faerie-tale.

We love unique takes on a wedding day and we’re completely in love with the idea of disappearing after your ceremony for a cheeky, private photoshoot. We do hour-by-hour coverage for exactly this ~ you can create your own plan and have us along for all the important parts!

Capturing the essence of Mel and Joe's love and their connection to the natural world was an absolute joy. The challenge of shooting them in the misty woods only added to the sense of adventure and unpredictability. We found ourselves totally inspired by the elements of folk horror that Mel and Joe had incorporated into their special day, and we felt privileged to be a part of their alchemical journey.

The raw beauty of the woodland ~ combined with Mel and Joe's brave and whimsical spirits ~ created a sense of magic that will stay with me forever. It was a photography experience unlike any other, full of folklore and mystery.

Mel and Joe's North Yorkshire wedding was an exciting celebration of love, nature, and the unknown. It was a reminder that when we embrace our wildish souls and embark on adventures together, we can create moments of pure magic. We left the woodland that day feeling inspired, energised and completely ready to embark on even more adventures.
